Perfect Holiday Meal

At the beginning of September America’s Test Kitchen released Volume 2 of their Slow Cooker Revolution cookbook and I was lucky enough to receive a copy of it from them! They asked me to review it and to let them know some of my favorite recipes from the cookbook. Well, I’m totally in love with the cookbook so it was kind of hard to just pick a few! I have made several recipes from the Slow Cooker Revolution Easy Prep Edition and they are all turning out so amazing! This is my first cookbook from them and I haven’t had one recipe disappoint me! I will definitely be buying some of their other cookbooks as soon as possible!

I decided on five recipes that I would like to share with you today and the reason I chose these particular five recipes is because they combine so well together to make a perfect holiday meal. Since the holidays are upon us and we usually get very stressed out, this meal I have put together will help you with not stressing out about spending long hours cooking a wonderful meal for your family. The Slow Cooker Revolution cookbook has made the recipes so easy to prep, cook, serve and oh so delicious!

The recipes that I chose are Creamy Pumpkin-Chai SoupHoliday Glazed HamHoney-Rosemary Glazed CarrotsCreamy Garlic and Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and Warm Peach-Raspberry Compote. I made all of these in one crockpot and within a 24 hour period. What I like about making this perfect holiday meal is that you don’t need an oven to make it! Also, for me this is truly a perfect holiday meal because all the recipes are Crohn’s friendly so my husband was able to enjoy them and I can make this meal again for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

First off the Creamy Pumpkin-Chai Soup is incredible! In the cookbook, America’s Test Kitchen told me about an awesome cooking tip. For this recipe they used a chai tea bag in the slow cooker instead of adding in a ton of spices to get a wonderful flavor. I’m looking forward to trying out this cooking tip in some of my other recipes! The soup had a pumpkin flavor with just the right amount of spices to make it absolutely delicious!

Moving on to the main entree, Holiday Glazed Ham, which is so amazingly good! The ham was so tender and fell off the bone easily. The glaze that was put on after it was done cooking, was like putting icing on a cake! The ham and glaze fit together so well, you will just have to try it for yourself to find out!

Carrots2

Now for a couple of side dishes to go with your Holiday Glazed Ham. I went with the Honey-Rosemary Glazed Carrots and Creamy Garlic and Parmesan Mashed Potatoes. The carrots were so flavorful, the ingredients were just right to give them such a splendid taste. The potatoes were terrific too, I will make these on a regular basis. They were super easy to make and so scrumptious!

The perfect ending to a perfect meal is this next recipe, Warm Peach-Raspberry Compote. If you have never had compote before then you need to try it and I would highly suggest you try this one first! It is so delightful, yummy, marvelous, etc…I wish I could share mine with all of you because of how much my family loved it!
